This Sunday we begin a new message series entitled "Worship in the Dark." It explores the incredible little book of Habakkuk. The prophet Habakkuk wrestled with tough questions about the evil in he world around him. He struggled to understand how God was working. Habakkuk took his questions to the right place, to the Lord Himself. The answers He received were confusing at first, but He learned to trust God with his doubts and discovered how to worship in the darkness. Habakkuk ends with one of the most beautiful songs in all the Bible.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 (ESV)
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Join us this week as we see how God met Habakkuk in the middle of his questions. God's answer to Habakkuk was to assure him that His plan was accomplishing much more than Habakkuk could see or believe. He offers us the same assurance when we take our questions to the Lord as well.
